Group Finance Director – Insurance & Investments

About the Role

The Group Finance Director is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the Group's financial management, planning, reporting, controls, treasury, and performance across its insurance, investment, asset management, and other financial services businesses.

The role provides strategic financial leadership across subsidiaries and business units, ensuring strong financial performance, regulatory compliance, capital discipline, effective risk management, and high-quality decision support for the Group CFO, CEO, Board, and shareholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Group-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.

Oversee consolidated financial reporting, management accounts, statutory accounts, and financial analysis across subsidiaries.

Drive FP&A, profitability analysis, cost optimization, and financial performance improvement.

Monitor financial performance across insurance, investments, asset management, and other Group businesses.

Oversee insurance finance, including premium revenue, claims, reserves, reinsurance, underwriting performance, and profitability analysis.

Lead financial reporting and accounting oversight for investment and asset management portfolios, including valuation, income, performance, and reporting.

Support Group-level capital planning, solvency, liquidity, and balance-sheet management.

Oversee treasury, cash management, funding requirements, and working-capital optimization.

Strengthen Group-wide financial controls, governance, policies, and risk management frameworks.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, insurance regulations, investment regulations, and statutory reporting obligations.

Provide financial analysis for M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments, restructuring, and capital allocation decisions.

Partner with senior executives to improve business-unit profitability, operating efficiency, and return on capital.

Lead finance transformation, including ERP, automation, management reporting, analytics, and digital finance initiatives.

Develop and mentor Finance Directors, Controllers, Heads of Finance, and senior finance teams across the Group.

Act as a key financial advisor to the Group CFO, CEO, Executive Committee, Board, auditors, regulators, investors, and other stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

15–20+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably within insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, pensions, reinsurance, or diversified financial services.

Proven experience operating at Group / regional / multi-entity level.

Previous experience as Group Finance Director, Finance Director, Group Financial Controller, Deputy Group CFO, Financial Controller, or senior finance executive.

Strong understanding of insurance accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting, capital management, treasury, and regulatory finance.

Demonstrated experience managing complex consolidated reporting structures and multiple subsidiaries.

Strong commercial understanding of investment portfolios, financial markets, capital allocation, and business performance.

Experience supporting M&A, corporate transactions, strategic investments, or restructuring is highly desirable.

Strong leadership experience managing geographically dispersed finance teams.

Education & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related discipline.

Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.

Additional qualifications in insurance, investment management, or financial risk are advantageous.
