Project Support Officer – Finance (6 months)

Job Purpose

The Project Support Officer – Finance will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and clearing unallocated payments within the organization’s financial systems during a six-month project period. The role focuses on ensuring accurate reconciliation of accounts, timely allocation of funds, and strengthening financial controls related to payment processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze unallocated payments in the accounting system.
  • Investigate discrepancies by liaising with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Customer Service) and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, banks).
  • Match incoming payments to outstanding invoices and allocate them accurately.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliation reports.
  • Resolve aged unallocated balances within agreed timelines.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to receivables.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and audit requirements.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce future unallocated payments.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all adjustments.

Key Deliverables

  • Reduction of unallocated payment backlog.
  • Accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable records.
  • Timely reconciliation reports and status updates.
  • Documented procedures for improved payment allocation processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBO-4 in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts receivable or general finance.
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong reconciliation, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large datasets.
